Nevada SBA Accepting Nominations for Annual Small Business Awards

The SBA Nevada District Office is accepting nominations for its 2022 small business awards. Previous Nevada winners include All in Aviation, Superb Maids (NV Grow Client) and Crazy Pita.

For more than 50 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has celebrated National Small Business Week (NSBW). These premiere annual awards recognize the achievements of SBA-assisted small businesses and the contributions they make to their communities and to Nevada’s economy.

To begin the process to nominate, email [email protected] or [email protected] with the selected category, name of the business nominated, owner(s) name, email, and phone number. This will allow the Nevada SBA District team to follow up with the business owner and ensure all documents are submitted via the online portal. Businesses may also self-nominate.

 

The Nevada categories are as follows:

Small Business Person of the Year Criteria: Individual or partners who own a small business, which has increased sales, profits and employees, and have been in business for at least three years. Business must have received Small Business Administration assistance.

Exporting Small Business of the Year Criteria: Small business which has increased sales, profits and/or employees due to exporting and has been in business for at least three years. Business must have received Small Business Administration assistance.

Family-Owned Small Business of the Year Criteria: Small business must be family-owned, received SBA assistance and has been in business for at least three years.

Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year Criteria: Small business at least 51% owned by a veteran of U.S. armed forces, received SBA assistance and has been in business for at least three years.

Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year Criteria: Small business at least 51% owned by a woman, received SBA assistance and has been in business for at least three years.

Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year  Criteria: Small business at least 51% owned by an ethnic minority, which has received SBA assistance and has been in business for at least three years.

Young Entrepreneur of the Year Criteria: Individual or partners who own a small business, under 30, received SBA assistance and has been in business for three years.

Microenterprise of the Year Criteria: Individual or partners who own a microenterprise with five or less employees, received SBA assistance and has been in business for three years.

Rural Small Business of the Year Criteria: Individual or partners who own a rural business, received SBA assistance and has been in business for at least three years.

Nevada Legacy Small Business of the Year Criteria: Individual or partners who own a small business, which has increased sales, profits and employees, and has been in business for at least twenty-five years. Business must have received Small Business Administration assistance.

Nevada Entrepreneurial Spirit Award Criteria: Individual or company in Nevada who best demonstrates a pattern of promotional support to entrepreneurial activities and small businesses in the state.

Packages for consideration, must be submitted electronically by 3 p.m. EST on January 11, 2022, to the district office Box account. The awards will be presented during National Small Business Week at a ceremony held sometime the first week of May 2022.
