NV Grow team and Director Kevin Raiford attended and actively participated in the Vietnamese Lunar New Year Festival 2022 on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater proudly presented by the Viet Nevada Culture and County Commissioner Tick Segerblom. The crowd enjoyed the traditional Vietnamese cuisine, handing out of the lucky red envelopes, music and dancing, children’s art awards, kids fashion show in traditional Vietnamese attire, and firecraker.

Deputy Treasury Secretary Adeyemo and Congressman Horsford Hold Listening Session with Business Leaders from Nevada’s Fourth District

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NEV. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04) and Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo held a roundtable with small business owners and business leaders in Nevada’s Fourth District to discuss the impact of the American Rescue Plan’s support for small businesses and the benefits of the Build Back Better Act for entrepreneurs.
“Small businesses are the backbone of Nevada’s economy, and our recovery from the pandemic depends on their strength. During today’s listening session, I was glad to hear candid feedback from local business owners and industry leaders about the support they need to rebuild from the profound challenges of the pandemic,” said Congressman Steven Horsford. “Nearly nine months ago, we fought to pass the American Rescue Plan with $50 billion in funding to help small businesses keep their doors open and keep employees on payroll. Today, as we work to pass the Build Back Better Act with $5 billion in additional support, I’m glad that our business community is making their voices heard.”
“I appreciated hearing how small business owners and industry leaders in Las Vegas are utilizing resources and funding provided through the American Rescue Plan to keep their doors open as our economy recovers from the pandemic,” said Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo. “Small businesses in Las Vegas were hit hard during this crisis, and minority-owned small businesses were hit especially hard. That is why Treasury is working to ensure that critical relief funding is reaching the small businesses that need it and providing capital for investments to small businesses and entrepreneurs through the $10 billion State Small Business Credit Initiative program. This, along with the provisions included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill and the Build Back Better Act, will generate strong investments in our communities.”
“As Nevada recovers from the pandemic, federal support for small businesses has played a key role in moving our economy forward,” said Sonny Vinuya, President of the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce. “Nevada’s small businesses are incredibly resilient, and additional federal support will help us rebuild stronger than before. Thank you Congressman Horsford and Deputy Secretary Adeyemo for taking the time to listen to Nevada’s entrepreneurs and business leaders.”
Background:
In March 2021, Congressman Horsford voted to pass the American Rescue Plan, which invested $50 billion to support small businesses that were struggling to keep their doors open as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier this month, Congressman Horsford voted to pass the Build Back Better Act, which builds on American Rescue Plan funding with $5 billion for small firms, including support for direct loans and venture capital funding, as well as support for cooperatives and worker-owned businesses. The bill also dedicates significant funding to support entrepreneurs in underrepresented and underserved communities. Nevada SBA Accepting Nominations for Annual Small Business Awards

Join us for an application process overview every Tuesday and Thursday morning beginning November 30, 2021 thru January 6, 2022 at 9:30am

 

The SBA Nevada District Office is accepting nominations for its 2022 small business awards. Previous Nevada winners include All in Aviation, Superb Maids (NV Grow Client) and Crazy Pita.

For more than 50 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has celebrated National Small Business Week (NSBW). These premiere annual awards recognize the achievements of SBA-assisted small businesses and the contributions they make to their communities and to Nevada’s economy.

To begin the process to nominate, email christina.stace@sba.gov or nvdo@sba.gov with the selected category, name of the business nominated, owner(s) name, email, and phone number. This will allow the Nevada SBA District team to follow up with the business owner and ensure all documents are submitted via the online portal. Businesses may also self-nominate.

 

The Nevada categories are as follows:

Small Business Person of the Year Criteria: Individual or partners who own a small business, which has increased sales, profits and employees, and have been in business for at least three years. Business must have received Small Business Administration assistance.

Exporting Small Business of the Year Criteria: Small business which has increased sales, profits and/or employees due to exporting and has been in business for at least three years. Business must have received Small Business Administration assistance.

Family-Owned Small Business of the Year Criteria: Small business must be family-owned, received SBA assistance and has been in business for at least three years.

Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year Criteria: Small business at least 51% owned by a veteran of U.S. armed forces, received SBA assistance and has been in business for at least three years.

Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year Criteria: Small business at least 51% owned by a woman, received SBA assistance and has been in business for at least three years.

Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year  Criteria: Small business at least 51% owned by an ethnic minority, which has received SBA assistance and has been in business for at least three years.

Young Entrepreneur of the Year Criteria: Individual or partners who own a small business, under 30, received SBA assistance and has been in business for three years.

Microenterprise of the Year Criteria: Individual or partners who own a microenterprise with five or less employees, received SBA assistance and has been in business for three years.

Rural Small Business of the Year Criteria: Individual or partners who own a rural business, received SBA assistance and has been in business for at least three years.

Nevada Legacy Small Business of the Year Criteria: Individual or partners who own a small business, which has increased sales, profits and employees, and has been in business for at least twenty-five years. Business must have received Small Business Administration assistance.

Nevada Entrepreneurial Spirit Award Criteria: Individual or company in Nevada who best demonstrates a pattern of promotional support to entrepreneurial activities and small businesses in the state.

The awards will be presented during National Small Business Week at a ceremony held sometime the first week of May 2022.
